This module introduces the fundamental principles of Building Information Modeling, covering the difference between CAD and BIM workflows, the structure of the AEC industry, and the roles of various stakeholders across project phases. Trainees will understand what a Federated Model is, how BIM relates to project lifecycle management, and how BIM Execution Plans and Standards govern project delivery.

Trainees learn the Autodesk Revit environment from the ground up — navigating the interface, setting up a new project using templates, establishing levels and grids, and managing files with best practices for backups and local vs. central file workflows. Core modification tools and productivity shortcuts are covered to build speed and confidence.

Revit Architecture (Foundational)

Participants create complete 3D building models covering all primary architectural elements — walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors and windows. They learn to load and create custom Revit families, define building spaces using room tags and color-fill plans, produce annotated drawings, and generate sheets with sections, elevations, and schedules for quantity takeoffs.

Trainees establish structural grids and levels, link architectural models as a reference, and model all key structural elements including columns, beams, beam systems, trusses, and foundations. The module covers slab and reinforcement basics, an introduction to analytical models, and coordination best practices between structural and architectural disciplines, culminating in complete structural documentation.

Revit MEP (Foundational)

MEP Project Setup — HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire

This module covers the full MEP spectrum within Revit — setting up Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. Trainees place air terminals, ducts, lighting fixtures, power devices, plumbing fixtures, and sprinkler heads, then identify clashes using color-coding and filters. MEP-specific schedules and plan legends are created to support coordinated documentation.

Trainees learn the fundamentals of multi-user collaboration in Revit — setting up central and local file environments, managing worksets and user permissions, and linking discipline models for integrated review. Revit's built-in interference check tool is used for basic clash identification, and an introduction to Navisworks as a coordination platform is provided. File naming and version control best practices round out the module.

Collaboration workflows between design and site teams are practiced to match real UAE project delivery standards.
